  Every day, as waiters, we put thousands of miles on our most precious possession, our feet. According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, an average day of walking brings a force equal to several hundred tons of pressure bearing down on your piggies. Hence, the medical fact that the feet are more likely to be injured more than any other body part.

And that doesn’t even factor in the extra weight of trays, food, beverages, and the musical table game we all play. Your feet are composed of 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments. That’s a lot of moving parts. Makes the Playstation seem elementary. Hell, it makes my car seem simple. If you’re a student of
  reflexology, you are also aware that your nervous system and nerves end in your feet making them sensitive and contributing to pain or discomfort in other areas of your body. I have found personally that a good foot rub can relieve tremendous stress and alleviate many aches. Spending 30 minutes pampering your feet will leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed.

So, be kind to your dawgs. They are your most important asset when your income is dependent on many steps. Here are some basics:

Footwear

This is the most important component and most often overlooked and neglected part of our uniform. Your shoes should fit well and it would behoove you to spend the extra time and money getting fitted by a good shoe store or posturpedic specialist. I know they aren’t sexy, but save that for those Saturday night special heels to trap your man (or for you guys, those sexy flip flops!). New insoles, like
