Dr. Scholl’s Athletic Soles, every month or two will lengthen the life of your investment.
Foot Soaks
After a long day or a double shift, soak your feet for 15 – 20 minutes in as hot water as you can stand. It can be in the bathtub or in a foot massager like Homemedics available at many discount stores and bath/body stores. Also helpful is a bath salt or soak. The minerals in bath salts help relieve soreness and prevent disease. My favorite is a kit by Paralaboratories called Footherapy, which includes a mineral soak and nourishing cream for afterwards. Good old Epsom salts is effective and cheap as well. Use a foot scrub or pumice stone to remove the calluses and dead skin.
Foot Massage
Not only for sensual moments, this can also relieve tension and stress. Apply cream to your hands, and then start in |
the ball of your foot using your thumbs to apply pressure in a circular motion. Use long horizontal then vertical strokes to soothe your arches. Don’t forget those piggies either! Massage each toe, rubbing from bottom to top while slightly pulling and rotating it.
Pedicure
Be sure to trim your nails straight across, then lube those babies up! My favorite foot lotion is Bath & Body Works Shea It Isn’t So. Anything with Shea Butter will work wonders to soften your feet. You will probably want to put clean socks on to sleep in and to hold the moisture inside your feet.
It sounds silly, but an ounce of prevention…….Okay, you get it! So take care of your sole. Both of them.
